'Intervention': Alcoholic's Boyfriend Locked Her In Spare Room To Detox (VIDEO)

Can 'Intervention' Help Alcoholic Kimberly?

From a distance, Kimberly's life seems idyllic. She lives in a mansion with her boyfriend Steven, and money is no object. However, Kimberly is also an alcoholic. And she is in dire need of an "Intervention" (Mon., 10 p.m. EST on A&E).

Kimberly's drinking had gotten so bad that her father had written her off, and her boyfriend even went as far as locking her in the spare bedroom in an effort to get her off booze.

Looking around the room that she was locked her in for three whole days, Kimberly showed the deep scratch marks on the door that she made with her fingers and shoes in an effort to break it down.

She couldn't call anyone for help because Steven had taken away her phone, and she said she feared that without alcohol she could have a seizure and die up there.

Steven admitted that he'd gone against his attorney's advice when he locked her in, but his rationale was that Kimberly's spirit had to be broken before she could get better. "To break something, you gotta bring something up, smash it down."

So, did Steven's extreme tough love work? In a word, no. "When he let me out, I walked to the nearest liquor store, came back, locked myself back in, proceeded to get drunk."

"Intervention" airs Mondays at 10 p.m. EST on A&E.
