New York Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul recently changed his Twitter and Facebook avatars to an X-ray of his right hand and it provides a different perspective of the July 4 fireworks incident.

He gave no indication as to when the photo was taken.

As demonstrated in the x-ray, Pierre-Paul's thumb, index and middle fingers each were most severely damaged by the accident.

The defensive end has had a number of hand surgeries, with the most recent reportedly taking place last month meant to help improve his grip. Pierre-Paul mentioned the importance of this surgery to the New York Post at the end of December:

I can’t grip out of my middle finger, it can’t close right now. That’s the reason why I’m in the club. Once I have my surgery I’ll be fine. I’m excited to actually get it done. Something I knew I had to get done at the end of the season.’

Pierre-Paul's injury appears to have affected his on-field performance as he had just one sack and 26 tackles in eight games this past season compared to the 12.5 sacks and 77 tackles in 2014.
