Jimmy Carter Throws A Little Shade At Donald Trump

"We can and must do better."

Former President Jimmy Carter appeared via video Tuesday at the 2016 Democratic National Convention, offering his endorsement of presidential nominee Hillary Clinton and encouraging young people to vote.

He also threw a little shade at Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump.

”At a moment when it’s become more important than ever to lift people up, to offer hope and a road map for a brighter future, instead, we see a Republican presidential candidate who seems to violate some of the most important moral and ethical principles on which our nation was founded,” Carter said. “We can and must do better.”

Carter said Clinton offers “a stark contrast in both substance and style, and also competence and experience, to what the Republicans have chosen.”

In the video, Carter also praised Clinton and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) for discussing issues that matter during their campaigns, and specifically thanked Sanders for getting so many young people involved in the political process.
