John Oliver Rallies ‘Time-Wasters And Troublemakers’ To Fight The FCC

"Join me once more in just 5 to 10 minutes of minor effort."

John Oliver is calling on everyone who’s ever wasted time on the Internet ― even trolls ― to unite for a common cause: net neutrality.

On Sunday, the host of HBO’s “Last Week Tonight” explained the issue and shared how important it was for everyone who uses the Internet.

Since the Trump administration hasn’t made it easy to comment on the topic, Oliver bought the website GoFCCYourself.com, which redirects to the correct page at the FCC. He then urged everyone to devote a small amount of effort to the issue.

“Yes, I’m talking to you, everyone who posted ‘May the 4th be with you’ for Star Wars Day this and and every fucking year. And I’m talking to you, everyone who posted on Facebook about 10 concerts you’ve seen and one you didn’t. And to you, everyone who did it ironically and added a clever joke twist because ― and this is important ― you are exactly as bad.”

The Oliver Effect may be happening again. While the FCC’s main page remained online, the page he directed traffic to went down early Monday. The effort also caused #GoFCCYourself to trend on Twitter.
