This Town Is Threatening To Punish Drunk Drivers With Nickelback

What’s worse than a fine, a criminal charge, and a driving suspension? Sorting out those legal troubles to the tune of Nickelback.

A Canadian police department is getting creative when it comes to preventing drunk driving. The Kensington Police Service says that it will force offenders to listen to everyone’s favorite Canadian band —Nickelback —should they find themselves in the back of a squad car this holiday season.

Authorities issued the warning for “those dumb enough to feel they can drink and drive” in a post to Facebook on Saturday.

“Now, now, no need to thank us, we figure if you are foolish enough to get behind the wheel after drinking then a little Chad Kroeger and the boys is the perfect gift for you,” the department said.

The post mentions that the album, “Silver Side Up” from 2001, is still in the plastic wrapper, so hopefully Kensington will make it through New Year’s without having to crack it open.

“So please, lets not ruin a perfectly good unopened copy of Nickelback,” police said. “You don’t drink and drive and we won’t make you listen to it.”
