Lady Gaga showed her support for Hillary Clinton one more time at the Democratic presidential candidate’s final rally in Morrisville, North Carolina, on Monday night. But it wasn’t her speech that garnered the most attention ― it was her outfit.
The pop star took to the stage wearing a black military-style jacket adorned with a red band on her right sleeve. Many people online likened the outerwear to a Nazi uniform.
Obviously, Twitter had a field day with Gaga’s fashion choice:
Everyone can calm down, though, because Gaga was not dressed as a Nazi. She was, in fact, wearing the same jacket Michael Jackson wore during his 1990 visit to the White House. Gaga famously bought a collection of Jackson’s clothes and other memorabilia at an auction in 2012.
Jacket details aside, Gaga used her time onstage at the rally to encourage the crowd to vote and praised Clinton for her braveness and perseverance. The “Poker Face” singer also performed a few of her hits and sang “Livin’ on a Prayer” with Jon Bon Jovi.
“We want you to stand up. Be a part of history,” Gaga said during her powerful speech. “What I’m asking you is to be in this moment right now with us and fight for your future and the future of your children.”
