It is the strangest thing to watch otherwise rational people lose themselves in a spiral of emotion and fear completely unjustified. I am not sure what more needs to be said to convince the LGBT left of this, but Trump is simply not anti-LGBT. After today it appears that despite his best efforts, the LGBT world simply wants it to be true more than they care about the actual substance of the claim.

In what amounted to pure, yet repeated, speculation the LGBT media fretted for days that Trump might overturn Obama’s LGBT protections Executive Order despite no indication from Trump or the White House that this was in the plans. The fear was entirely fabricated and based solely on the belief that Trump must be anti-LGBT - something the LGBT media has been chanting for months now with absolutely no evidence to support the claim. Today Trump vowed to keep the protections in place and moved on without missing a beat. As the New York Times quotes:

“President Trump continues to be respectful and supportive of L.G.B.T.Q. rights, just as he was throughout the election,” the statement said. “The president is proud to have been the first ever G.O.P. nominee to mention the L.G.B.T.Q. community in his nomination acceptance speech, pledging then to protect the community from violence and oppression.”

Trump is the first president to enter the White House supporting Same Sex Marriage, he has transgender friends, he waved a rainbow flag at a press conference for his gay supporters with a smile. What more does one need exactly? He didn’t need to ‘evolve’ like Obama did. He wasn’t married to the most legally anti-LGBT president in history, Bill Clinton, who signed DOMA and DADT. He simply embraces modern, liberal positions related to LGBT without needing to explain himself. Exactly what equality was always meant to accomplish.

Yet instead of recognizing their hysteria was over nothing inspired by textbook bigotry the LGBT left dismissed the action choosing to pretend that their argument was valid all along.

Not to outdo themselves they immediately decided to justify their irrational ‘Trump hates the gays’ mantra by breathlessly speculating on how Trump may sign an Executive Order allowing a ‘license to discriminate’ or a basic Religious Freedom bill.

The LGBT media has been hyperventilating over this imaginary ‘license to discriminate’ concept ever since they decided it was the duty of the court to force Christians to participate in gay weddings against their will. For the same reasons they left is currently chanting ‘Muslim ban’ despite absolutely no reasonable or legal definition of any such thing existing, the LGBT left has simply refused to let this one go. They have convinced themselves Christians all over the country want nothing more than the legal ability to kick gay people out of their restaurants or deny them services. Christians have been able to do this legally since the founding of the country mind you and for some reason it just never caught on.

But the LGBT left is convinced. There is no changing their minds. The North Carolina HB2 bill which was supposed to legalize anti-trans discrimination failed to produce even a single example in over a year. But no one has faith like a liberal in their fear of what conservatives might do to them. We again are seeing this displayed with protests and bold denunciations. LGBT people didn’t even need the Executive Order providing additional protections to them and Trump didn’t touch it. We certainly don’t need to worry about Christians anywhere discriminating against us.

As with so many things the left is unwilling to recognize their own hypocrisy on these matters. When some of the Rockettes refused to perform for Trump’s inauguration the left wildly praised them for standing up for their beliefs. It was an identical situation for every Christian baker, caterer or photographer in that they simply did not wish to participate in an event they morally opposed. They never denied a single gay customer anything. Yet the myth of Christians ‘denying service’ has lived on and is now once again being invoked to create more anxiety and fear over what would be a harmless Executive Order.

What the LGBT left doesn’t understand is that the reason average gay people experience anxiety, paranoia and fear is because they are the ones telling them imaginary monsters are around every corner ready to attack them. When Rachel Maddow asked Trump on her TV show if he would ‘send her to a camp’, it validated the absurd notion Trump had terrible plans for LGBT once in office. Again, his entire public legacy has been nothing but positive to neutral on gay rights. Unlike President Obama, candidate Hillary Clinton, President Bill Clinton and nearly every single sitting Democrat today, Trump did not oppose gay rights only to change his mind later.

There is more empirical evidence Hillary would have signed an anti-LGBT law than there is Trump would even consider it.

Average gay people simply do not experience discrimination in the real world. We have a 0.01% hate crime rate. We are widely portrayed and celebrated in all media. We can get married in every state. The past and current president are openly supportive of LGBT. We live normal, perfectly equal-to-everyone-else lives and the LGBT left is forced to search for things to be upset about these days. Why the obsession with spreading fear and hatred like this? What benefit is there to convince otherwise content LGBT that their lives and liberty are in danger for no reason at all?

There is a limit to the swing of this pendulum and you can only cry wolf so many times. It is now at a point of doing nothing more than creating fear and hatred in a population that should be enjoying boundless freedom and equality in their country. There is simply no reason whatsoever to fear President Trump as a gay person. Gay Americans would likely experience a much greater sense of liberty if their mainstream media didn’t constantly tell them they are oppressed. LGBT: Please stop scaring people for no reason.
