Matt Damon Inexplicably Stars In The Trailer For China's $135 Million Monster Movie

??????????

If Jason Bourne has all of his memories back now, can he please explain why Matt Damon is front and center in a monster movie set in ancient China?

Directed by Chinese visionary Zhang Yimou, “The Great Wall” is reportedly the country’s most expensive film production to date with a hefty $135 million price tag.

Marrying Chinese legends with advancements in modern movie-making, the CGI fest tells the story of the construction of the China’s most famous landmark and the creature that lurks on the other side of the wall.

“This is a Hollywood monster movie and needs to be made in that style,” the director explained to Entertainment Weekly on Thursday. “I don’t want to change that approach, and there’s no need to do that. What I really want is to bring Chinese color and cultural background to the worldwide audience through a film language that they are familiar with.”

There’s nothing more familiar to U.S. film audiences than casting white people in roles that probably should’ve been played by people of color!

“The Great Wall” hits theaters on Feb. 17, 2017.
