We donβt call her Queen Meryl for nothing.
On Tuesday morning, Meryl Streep was nominated for her 20th (!!!) Academy Award, proving yet again why sheβs considered one of the greatest actors of all time. Streep, who won the Cecil B. DeMille Award at this yearβs Golden Globe Awards, broke her own record with Tuesdayβs nomination β Actress in a Leading Role β for the film βFlorence Foster Jenkins.β
To express her excitement over the nomination, Streep shared the following gif (via a publicist) in a statement obtained by The Los Angeles Times. Itβs perfect:
Streep, 67, has held the record for most nominations for a few years now, with Katharine Hepburn and Jack Nicholson tied behind her with 12 nominations each.
Naturally, folks on social media were delighted to see Streepβs name in the category. People also couldnβt help but call out President Donald Trump, who called the actress overrated after she directed her Golden Globes speech at him.
Also in the category this year are Emma Stone (βLa La Landβ), Natalie Portman (βJackieβ), Ruth Negga (βLovingβ) and Isabelle Huppert (βElleβ).
