Sanity Tip #165: Imagine the impossible. Go see what's possible for you and how it can heal our world. The biggest change we need in the world right now is one of mindset. We need more conscious 21st century leaders who can imagine and co-create, outside of crowded spaces.

“You can’t depend on your eyes when your imagination is out of focus.”-- Mark Twain

Imagine you are in a very large orchard with a mission of coming back home at the end of the day with enough fruit to pay your bills for the month.

You look around to assess the situation. There is one tree that has 20% fruit on it and millions of people trying to pick the fruit that is readily available. You see them grabbing as much as they can and pushing others to get what they believe is their fair share. You watch how each person protects their yield. You are fascinated by how everyone is taking cate of themselves and shake your head when you see people literally pushing each other out of the way to have the most fruit.

You stand there for a while knowing you need to get some fruit for your own survival. But something stops you in your tracks from heading into the insanity that is playing in front of you.

You look up and think you see something else and rub your eyes. Are you imagining it or is it possible that there is another way? You start walking toward it slowly with hesitation. You bring some tools with you to explore.

You stop and rub your eyes. You feel your heart racing. Then it becomes clear. There are more trees. You look back and wonder why no one else sees them and you do see some other people on your path. You feel grateful and smile and strike up some conversations. Together, you continue on.

Then you start counting as you get closer.

There are 27 trees bit farther away. You may need to walk longer to get to them, bring a ladder to climb higher to get to the fruit and forge unlikely partnerships.

The fruit on these 27 trees is unknown to most people but when you stop at one of the trees and taste it, you are amazed at the flavor and texture of the fruit. You look around and realize there are very few people at the tree you chose and you don't need to push your way to get your fair share.

In fact, you don't want your fair share. All you want is to take what you need since you are clear about your enough. You also want to share with others what you discovered on the edge; not just the fruit but the joy of the pure abundance you are experiencing when you pushed yourself further than you'd ever imagines you could go.

A woman approaches you. She has a big smile on her face and says, wow, I have tested this fruit and it will heal so many people. You realize very quickly through your conversation that you can do so much more in the world with this woman you just med because she is thinking more about how to heal the world than just how to pay her bills this month.

You start imagining possibilities of what happens when you leave crowded spaces and explore the edges?

What happens when we can connect human-to-human and create purposeful experiences? What happens when we truly leave our comfort zones? What do you see in the orchard? Why? Where is your tree? What fruit are you growing and harvesting? Why?

The biggest shift we need for the century is one of mindset. We don’t need more programs and initiatives that keep us busy and numb us. They are abundantly confusing us. What we need are conscious 21st century leaders who imagine possibilities and go create something meaningful on this incredible planet of ours.

In a keynote address, author Ray Bradbury declared that if enough people followed their hearts, they could realize their optimistic vision of humanity’s future. Bradbury exhorted his enthusiastic listeners to “jump off the cliff and learn how to make wings on the way down.”
