Police are looking for an assailant in Minneapolis who has been targeting bicyclists in the area by throwing cement bricks at them.

Mackenzie Jensen, 20, the most recent of at least four victims, requires facial reconstruction surgery after the suspect threw a cinder block at him from a passing vehicle Friday afternoon. The block hit Jensen in the face and knocked him off his bike, according to NBC affiliate KARE 11.

"[It] came flying at him out of nowhere and just cracked him in the face," his mother, Kristin Piper, told CBS News.

A fellow biker reportedly stopped to help and bandaged Jensen while they waited for paramedics to arrive. Doctors wired Jensen's jaw shut, and he'll need surgery to insert metal plates into his face, according to a GoFundMe page his family set up, which as of Tuesday afternoon had raised more than $20,000.

Piper said she's scared for her son, but she's comforted by the support from the community.

"It is really outweighing the bad right now and it really is restoring my faith in humanity," she told KARE 11. "It really is showing what the city of Minneapolis is capable of and the biking community, too."

Police told the New York Daily News that at least three other victims of similar attacks have come forward. In two cases, the cinder blocks missed the bicyclists. A third victim was hit and suffered minor injuries.

The suspect reportedly attacked from inside an SUV. The vehicle was reported as white, possibly a Ford Bronco, with a back window missing. Anyone with information is asked to call the Minneapolis Police Department.
