Nevada Governor Election Results: Brian Sandoval Wins 2014 Race

Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval (R) defeated Democrat Bob Goodman in the state's gubernatorial contest Tuesday.

Sandoval, who is considered one of the nation's most popular governors, was first elected to the position in 2010.

Goodman, a former state economic development commissioner, finished second in the Democratic primary, after "none of these candidates."

Sandoval and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) engaged in a proxy battle in the state's lieutenant-governor race, operating under the assumption that Sandoval could challenge Reid in 2016.
