New Mexico Democrats selected Gary King to challenge incumbent Gov. Susan Martinez in November's general election, the Associated Press reports.

King and four other Democrats, including Howie Morales, Lawrence Rael, Alan Webber and Linda Lopez, vied for the nomination during Tuesday's contest.

Martinez is seeking a second term as governor, and was uncontested in the Republican primary.
