This Common Mistake Is Making Your Beer Too Foamy

No nose grease required.

A glass of beer filled mostly with foam suggests an amateur was pouring, but sometimes, no matter how skilled you are, a foamy beer seems inevitable.

Your college pals probably suggested using a bit of nose grease to cut the foam down, but there's another less disgusting secret that'll keep your beer fluid and crisp. Ready for it? Quit it with the frosty mugs. As enticing as it may be to guzzle beer out of a glass so chilly you can finger-doodle on it, the cold is messing with your lager.

Paste recently posted a public service announcement explaining why a frozen cup is a heinous faux pas:

Frozen beer glasses can have ice crystals on the side of them that can cause foaming issues when you pour in your favorite brew. Even worse, the extra cold temperature is actually masking the flavor of your beer, not enhancing it, so you’re missing out on some of the flavors the brewer intended and ending up with a much blander-tasting beer when you opt for a frosty glass.

Chilled beer should always be poured into a room-temperature or slightly chilled glass, say the experts at CraftBeer.com. So whether you're out for happy hour or throwing one back in the comfort of your own home, don't bother making the extra effort: Use a normal cup.
