Only Donald Trump's Victory Could Actually Make The Avengers Assemble

Aside from a Marvel paycheck larger than the GDP of some small countries, there are only a few things that could actually make the Avengers assemble.

Like Scarlett Johansson’s birthday party, for example, or, you know, the threat of a real-life supervillain who makes the combined destruction wrought by Loki, Ultron and Elizabeth Olsen’s fake Russian accent look like child’s play.

In the days following Donald Trump’s presidential victory, many of the outspoken members of the “Avengers” cast, including Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo and Samuel L. Jackson, have voiced their dissent on social media.

Twitter user Suleikha Snyder noticed how many Avengers IRL were speaking out against Trump and compiled their passionate responses in a gold-star tweet, writing, “The Avengers are assembling.”

The third installment of the “Avengers” series, “Infinity War - Part 1,” doesn’t hit theaters until 2018, so in the meantime the election has served as a welcome reunion for Marvel’s anti-Trump contingent.

In September, “Avengers” director Joss Whedon gathered many of his superhero cast members, including Robert Downey Jr. and Scarlett Johansson, for a Save The Day video with “a shit-ton of famous people” to encourage everyone to vote.

It might not have worked this time, but it’s nice to know they are ready to suit up when we need them most.
