Identity theft is the single worst non-physical crime that can happen to a person. During the past 20 years that I’ve been investigating, reporting, speaking on, and doing a ton of national media on identity theft, it seems that every week there is a victim or a story that has come to my attention that was worse than the previous weeks’. Unfortunately, this crime is not any closer to being solved, and the companies responsible for protecting our data are continually victimized. These companies are not the only victims, however. Government agencies are also victimized by the bad guys, and no one is doing what they need to do to protect us, as consumers.
Those who know me know that I’m a big proponent for personal responsibility, and that’s for EVERYTHING in our lives. Too often we complain about our lot in lives because of “others” not doing for us. This could be corporations, the government, or other family members, but ultimately, the responsibility lies with us. It’s because of this lack of personal accountability that too many people are not only unhappy, but they lack the necessary resources for a balanced life. Everything we need is right there as long as we seek it. In the end, the burden of responsibility for personal security, no matter if it is a physical or virtual crime, is up to us as individuals to protect ourselves. The good news is everything we can and should do is right there for us to consume. Some of it is free, some of it takes a little time to set up, and some of it is an investment in a consumable product or service. So, it doesn’t matter what your situation is, you can take responsibility to protect yourself. There are no excuses.
In all the years that I’ve been involved in teaching personal protection, I’ve met or engaged almost every major player in the business of personal protection. Many are no longer around, some are barely hanging on, some are lying their pants off and selling snake oil, and the best rise to the top. One of these, IdentityForce, has risen to the top for many reasons. IdentityForce is a New England based company and a family business that has been around since the early 70’s. As a New Englander, myself, I know that we are a hearty bunch, and we live by our principles and morals. We are transparent, we say it like it is, and we get the job done. And just like our sports teams, we are all about tradition, passion and resilience. This company is no different than any other tough New Englander that I know.
IdentityForce is a company that is there for all of us and ready to help protect us. An axiom in the security industry is “security never sleeps,” and that’s exactly how IdentityForce operates. They are watching our backs 24/7/365 to help protect us from identity theft in as many ways as possible. I’m honored to be a part of the IdentityForce team and very happy to be a regular contributor to the IdentityForce blog. I look forward to presenting current issues on personal protection, as well helping you better navigate the identity theft issues that we all face.
