Peter Buffett Integrates Action Network Into DoSomething.org

Peter Buffett's social action collaboration with Akon, IsThereSomethingICanDo.org, is set to be incorporated into youth action site DoSomething.org, a press release said Wednesday.

IsThereSomethingICanDo.org launched in 2008 to encourage spreading the message of causes through social networking. Their attention focused primarily on human trafficking, world health and the economic growth of developing nations. Buffett's move to create a fuse his vision with an established online presence mirrors the move his father, Warren Buffett, made in 2006, when he pledged to give 85% of his massive fortune to the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

"DoSomething.org has proven themselves to be at the forefront in driving social action through online interaction," Buffett said. "I feel the best thing Akon and I can do for IsThereSomethingICanDo.org is to utilize this resource to motivate our fans to do the same."

DoSomething.org aims to use the power of online influence to encourage "offline action." According to the press release, DoSomething.org will "activate" two million young people by 2011.

Buffett and Akon previously collaborated on the song and music video for "Blood and Gold," to increase awareness of the ongoing worldwide slave trade.
