Baby Polar Bear Cuddles Up To Mama In Adorable Debut Video

Awwwwwww!

A baby polar bear snuggles up to its mom in adorable footage guaranteed to make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

The unbelievably cute bundle of fur, gender unknown, was born at The Toledo Zoo in Ohio on Dec. 3. But the zoo only announced the birth of the new offspring from mama bear Crystal and dad Marty on Thursday when it also posted this heartwarming video on Facebook.

"The Toledo Zoo is excited to announce the birth of a new polar bear cub!" the zoo stated.

Crystal, 16, is currently caring for her cub off-exhibit. Zoo officials are monitoring the duo via den cameras, and hope to introduce them to the public some time in the spring.

The cub is the seventh born at the zoo since 2006, The Toledo Blade reported.

Crystal also gave birth to the facility's last two cubs, twin brother and sister Sakaria and Suka, in November 2012. They now live at the Como Park Zoo and Conservatory in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Zoo director Jeff Sailer told NBC24 the latest unnamed cub was "not only important for maintaining a healthy and growing population but also for bringing the plight of the wild polar bear population to the forefront."

Polar bears typically weigh just 1 pound and measure 12 inches long when born. In the wild, they leave the den with their mom when they reach 20 to 30 pounds.

Climate change leading to the loss of Arctic sea ice has seen the species listed as vulnerable and as threatened under the Endangered Species Act.
