Rammed Earth Aspen Estate On The Market For Over $10 Million

PHOTOS: Inside A Rammed-Earth Aspen Estate

An award-winning modern Aspen estate is on the market for nearly $10.8 million. The home's finishes and furnishings were designed by Manhattan's Larry Laslo, while the structure itself is constructed from eco-friendly rammed earth and zinc roofing.

Rammed earth is mostly clay and sand thickly compressed so that the home stays naturally cool in summer and warmer in winter, according to one of the home's listed agents, Steven Shane. Some of the home's unique features include: custom closet door handles inside that mimic the front doors of the Mandarin Oriental 5-star Hotel in New York City, Japanese zen gardens, eco-fireplaces and gorgeous views of Aspen Highlands and Tiehack.

The home's design has won 3 awards: the 2007 AIA Colorado West Merit Award for architecture, a landscaping award, and the 2006 Denver Chapter of the AIA Design Award. It has also been featured in 3 interior design magazines.

Co-listed by Steven Shane of SDS Real Estate, Inc. and Jill Shore of Joshua & Co., Aspen, Inc.
