If Republicans Can't Stand Up to Trump, How Can They Stand Up to ISIS or Putin

On December 15, the next Republican debate, the moderator should give them all a chance to "reject and denounce" Donald Trump himself. Lindsay Graham is already there. Let us see if the others will use those words.

During the 2008 primary campaign, then-Senator Hillary Clinton challenged then-Senator Barack Obama to "reject" Minister Louis Farrakhan. Obama had previously "denounced" Minister Farrakhan, but when Clinton pressed him, Obama said OK, I reject and denounce him.

She should demand no less from the Republican presidential candidates.

This is not, mind you, just a rejection and denunciation of what Trump said. It is an utter rejection and denunciation of Trump himself. Only then can they disclaim association with the putrid Trump stench.

On December 15, the next Republican debate, the moderator should give them all a chance to "reject and denounce" Donald Trump himself.

Lindsay Graham (R-SC) is already there. Let us see if the others will use those words.

After all, if they cannot stand up to Donald Trump, how can they possibly stand up to ISIS or Vladimir Putin?
