The Republican National Committee faced an online backlash Friday after it marked the start of Black History Month with a quote from its chair, Ronna McDaniel.
As #BlackHistoryMonth begins today, we celebrate the trailblazers who triumphed over injustice throughout our nation’s history and honor the courageous Americans whose legacy of perseverance and patriotism define our commitment to opportunity for all. pic.twitter.com/bkQcQ3oWpJ

Some Twitter users called the post “tone deaf,” while others noted President Donald Trump’s history of racist behavior. Black History Month tweets from Trump and first lady Melania Trump were met with similar scorn.
The epitome of tone deaf.

If you really cared there would be more Republican African Americans in Congress. This is so hypocritical. You would have been better off saying nothing.

I swear this is a parody account!

But yet you demonize those who today follow the examples of those that came before them. Hmmmm...

Will Donald Trump finally invite Frederick Douglass to the White House this #BlackHistoryMonth?

Many people are saying he is an example of somebody who’s done an amazing job and is getting recognized more and more.
Your party is based on capitalizing on racism and fear stoking. For decades now, your whole platform is structured around making sure enough white people hate black people more than they love themselves. You are an agent of hate.
