FDA Approves New Type Of Robotic Prosthetic Arm

FDA Approves New "Star Wars" Inspired Prosthetic Arm

A recent CBS report suggests that the FDA's newest development in prosthetic limbs might be taking a page out of "Star Wars."

The robotic prosthesis, formally known as the DEKA arm, will be controlled by the subject's brain and will be activated by them simply thinking of their former hand.

Sure to appeal even more to the science community, the new prosthetic has been nicknamed the "Luke Arm" for its resemblance to the replacement hand Luke Skywalker receives in "Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back."

Watch the clip above to find out more about this new advance in the prosthetic-limb community.
