Penn State Dad Absolutely Loses It As Wife Surprises Him With Rose Bowl Tickets

"It’s really a dream come true,” the lifelong fan said.

For Dean Yockey, seeing Penn State’s football team play in the upcoming Rose Bowl match would have been a dream come true, but he accepted it just wasn’t in his family’s budget.

So when his wife on Thursday presented him with a box containing a bowl of roses with tickets to the game in the center, his filmed response was nothing short of priceless.

“What is it, dad?” the father of four is asked as he studies the box’s contents.

“I don’t know, it’s a rose bowl,” he replies while studying the item placed in its center.

Then it hits him and the tears won’t stop falling.

“How did you get the money for this, honey, we don’t have the money for this,” he says while choking up, still seemingly in disbelief.

Yockey, later speaking to The Centre Daily Times, said he and his wife Becky discussed potentially attending the Jan. 2 game in California but ultimately decided their money would be best used elsewhere.

“She always wanted to go to the Rose Parade and I always wanted to go to the Rose Bowl,” he said of their dream. “We thought it’d be a good thing to do. Then we thought we’d save the money, because you never know what you can save it for. What if the girls get married?”

Thanks to his kickass wife and kids, however, they’ll be heading to Pasadena to watch Penn State play the University of Southern California in person.

“This is a dream come true. It’s really a dream come true,” Yockey told the news outlet after expressing his love for his family.

Penn State football coach James Franklin, who saw the video after it went viral this week, also shared in the family’s excitement. In a phone call Friday, Franklin thanked Yockey for his support and said he’d be sending him a care package.

“It’s passion like you have for Penn State that makes us play so special,” Franklin tells him in a video capturing their phone conversation.
