Russell Simmons: Donald Trump Is The Epitome Of White Supremacy

Tell us how you really feel.

Russell Simmons has something to say about his former “amazing friend” of “30-plus years,” Donald Trump.

During a CNNMoney Facebook Live on Thursday, the music mogul stated that while racism isn’t new in America, he thinks Trump's candidacy hasn't helped matters across the country.

“I think there is a shift based on Donald Trump’s candidacy and the things he’s said, and what he made ok to say,” Simmons said. “There are things that are being said now that wouldn’t have been said only a few years ago. There’s always a seed of hate, but when you make it ok for it to grow, you water it, it grows.”

Simmons doesn’t think that Trump has much of a chance of gaining support from the African-American community, either.

“We’re not [the black community] crazy. He said we’re in the worst shape we’ve ever been when we were slaves or Jim Crow. It’s just absurd. And black people see it, and all people should see it. It’s not the America that we wanna see for any race, religion, anybody. We should all be appalled. If we want America to be what we promoted, then we should be uncomfortable with his candidacy,” he said.

Simmons then added that Trump’s string of offensive comments have made him one of the most prejudiced presidential candidates to date.

“People have prejudice, many people. And in some it’s more apparent than others. He’s pretty obvious…I would say, white supremacy, he’s the epitome of it. He certainly represents that image of white supremacy more than any other candidate I’ve seen,” he said.

Editor’s note: Donald Trump regularly incites political violence and is a serial liar, rampant xenophobe, racist, misogynist and birther who has repeatedly pledged to ban all Muslims ― 1.6 billion members of an entire religion ― from entering the U.S.
