From big-screen superhero to real-life superhero, Ryan Reynolds is doing a lot of good.
The "Deadpool" star has been making the rounds in the press for his box-office smash and recently posted to Facebook about meeting Connor McGrath, a young fan battling acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Reynolds revealed that McGrath was the first person to see "Deadpool" and that like Reynold's character Wade Wilson, "he's trying to put cancer in his rearview mirror."
"About 6 weeks ago, I traveled to Edmonton Alberta to show Connor the movie at his hospital," Reynolds wrote on Facebook. "Of course, the Deadpool was right up his alley because Connor's the funniest, potty-mouthed Canadian mercenary I've ever met."
Reynolds continued, asking fans to help donate to McGrath's crowdfunding page.
"He's my friend. I know lots of celebrities jump up and down touting a cause -- and maybe I'm no different," he wrote. "But holy frozen shit-slivers, I love this kid. He's the GREATEST. And he needs your help to get well. I've donated to help Connor and I hope you will too."
According to McGrath's crowdfunding page, he needs funds to pursue an experimental type of cancer treatment, called CAR T-cell therapy, as chemotherapy is not working. As of now, McGrath is at $32,000 of his $800,000 goal.
Earlier this year, Reynolds met with Tony Acevedo, a young fan battling Hodgkin's disease, through the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
"Tony's next fight is with Hodgkin's disease," Reynold's wrote. "Hodgkin's disease best be wearing its brown pants."
