Seahawks Grab Losman, Former Bill

Some people are rejoicing (maybe), others are wincing, it all depends on how you look at the Seahawks' recent acquisition of J.P. Losman, the former Bills QB that did absolutely nothing but sink us deeper into our losing slump.

Losman agreed to a $630,000 one-year contract with the Seahawks, joining three-time Pro Bowl QB Matt Hasselbeck who at 34, is entering the final season of his contract.

First, Losman's salary seems low overall but high for what he's worth as a QB. In his only full season as a starter in 2006, Losman threw 19 TDs and 14 interceptions with Buffalo. Then we drafted Trent Edwards, who seemed like a promising replacement until...well, he wasn't. Losman went on to play with the UFL in 2009, putting up numbers that were...wait, I can't remember....oh right, they weren't memorable.

Apparently, Losman's return from the wings of the NFL is a result of the Seahawks trying to boost competition at every position. This Hasselbeck-Losman competition could get good--Hasselbeck threw a career-high 17 interceptions last season, so the two can go head-to-head with who misfires more. Throw $8 million contract Charlie Whitehurst, former Chargers third-stringer, into the mix and this could be quite the sucky showdown.

Bills Chick wishes Losman the best. Usually I'd predict a former Bill spending time on another team would eventually make for a frustrating season of "why do they get good as soon as they leave us?" bitch sessions with my Daddy...but with J.P., I have nothing to worry about.

GO BILLS!!!
