RETURN OF THE SIP: Chicago Bar Transforms Into 'Star Wars' Cantina

Let's hope these partygoers weren't looking for love in Alderaan places.

The opening of "The Force Awakens" apparently awakened a lot of boozehounds in Chicago.

In honor of the new Star Wars flick, The Whistler bar in Chicago turned itself into the cantina seen in "A New Hope" complete with band populated by alien-looking musicians.

Fans of the film (and of alcohol) waited in line outside for the chance to experience the type of nightlife previously only experienced by the visitors to to Mos Eisley, Tatooine.

Bartenders served up a series of Star Wars-inspired drinks.

Two of the spacey drinks were the "Battle For Endor," a cocktail of gin, lemon activated charcoal and club soda served with dry ice (front) and "Cloud City," a mezcal and tequila drink flavored with coconut, curry, mango and lime.

There was also the "Blue Milk," a concoction of spiced rum, apple brandy, amaro, milk, cinnamon, nutmeg and bitters.

The event attracted aliens from all over Chicago.

To make the cantina experience truly authentic, the Whistler hired Silent Reading -- a Chicago-based band to do a tribute to Figrin D'an -- and the Modal Nodes -- the name of the cantina band in "A New Hope."

The group performed tunes from the original Star Wars trilogy, including the "Cantina Band" song and assorted ditties associated with Sci-Fi movies.

This was definitely the hottest party between here and Alderaan.

It wasn't all fun and games. Visitors had to check their light sabers at the door.
