Studio Movie Grill (’SMG’) strikes again by opening its most recent flagship in Arlington, Texas. The Lincoln Square SMG makes number twenty-four in its fleet of premier full-service, in-theater dining experience locations. As if it could get any better, the theater is a whopping 5 minutes away from AT&T Stadium—a bonus for diehard Cowboys fans. Thursday, January 19, 2017, was a big night for SMG, as they hosted a star-studded opening night, and kicked off their community event series—honoring the Arlington area with several of-the-people events.

Upon arrival, we picked up our media credentials, and were greeted by vibrant SMG team members, who invited us into a celebratory environment—eager to get the party going. Guest enjoyed SMG signature cocktails, Hors d’oeuvres, a film cutting ceremony, and great conversation. When I tell you that SMG made the guest experience a priority, they made it a priority—there was no stone that went unturned. We had a full schedule of events:

The highlight of my night was seeing such a diverse crowd, celebrate the man behind the dream, Brian Schultz. Brian’s elation for opening his 24th location, was like watching him open his first. It was evident that he’d thought his dream through and executed it well, in spite of naysayers along the way. He’d realized the importance of building a team that was just as determined too. It was evident this man has worked his tail off, and seeing his dream come to fruition was the icing on the cake Thursday evening.

As a member of the media, I was fortunate enough to not only meet Brian, but his celebrity friends, entertainers, athletes, and philanthropist who came to help him and the SMG family celebrate. I was in the room and spoke with the likes of:

I shared a moment with Tamela and David Mann to talk about the night and what they had cooking their way. The last I saw of them was during The Mann’s Wold Concert and Comedy tour that came to Arlington, Texas’ UTA Texas Hall in October. I surprised my nine year-old with VIP tickets because, in her head, she and Tamela are BFF’s. I remember experiencing the best of comedy, music, and family, all on one stage. I can’t put into words how powerful of a night we had.
It was great to see them again on their date night and hear more about their brand. Tamela shared with me her latest project, “One Way,“ which as a devoted fan, I had on repeat since it came out. They’re also slated to go on tour again—boy would that be worth giving it a second go. You can keep up with the Mann family by heading here for all things, Mann. Let’s talk the genius behind the activation, Roderick Stoker, of Lightning Rod Events. Roderick is a long-time friend of Brian’s, who is well aware of SMG’s early days of being just a figment of Brian’s imagination. He made this project personal. This event couldn’t have been any more perfect, without the high-energy, larger than life personality of Rod. His team mimicked his energy to create an unforgettable event for their client. Talk about a well-oiled machine. There wasn’t a lonely soul or empty glass in the place. The cocktails were flowing, the energy was high, conversation was intellectually sound, and a fun time was to be had by all. I firmly believe, Rod’s contagious energy made this activation one for the record books. The DJ didn’t skip a beat, making sure the energy was matched with great music. There was a Photo Booth for guests to commemorate the evening, in front of a branded step-and-repeat banner.
