Teen Who Didn't Think He'd Graduate Gets An Emotional Surprise Delivery

Graduation can be an emotional time for all students and their loved ones, but one Georgia teen in particular found himself on the verge of tears last week.

Jamias Howard, 19, had some struggles and wasn’t able to attend class his final semester, according to Fox5 Atlanta.

He didn’t think he’d graduate ― but special education teacher Kimberly Wimbish visited him after a full day of teaching at Griffin High School for private tutoring.

“We’d meet at the local library or a local park or Burger King, wherever he could walk to,” she told ABC News. “We’d go through lessons and I’d grade him and I’d teach him. He really worked. When I found out he had enough credits, I was just about to explode with excitement.”

Along with posting the video, Wimbish added a few hashtags: #HeWorkedSoHard #BoutDroveMeBananas #HeDidntKnowHeWasGraduating.

The teen’s mom, Trenia Howard, told ABC that her son called her at work after receiving his cap and gown.

“He said, ‘Mama you need to get home. You need to come home right now. I’m graduating,’” she told the network. “My eyes starting getting teary when I heard that.”

WSB, the ABC station in Atlanta, said Howard is due to graduate on Saturday.

Wimbish isn’t done helping her student.

She’s also set up a GoFundMe page to help raise money for his college expenses.
