Perhaps I’m technically the same person when I walk out my door, but in all honesty I’m two-faced. And so are you.

IT’S REAL UNREAL

For the majority of humans on the planet at this time in evolutionary history, the Social Face is simply a part of our metaphorical anatomy.

I know. I know. We have made progress, thanks to the work of psychoanalyst Dr. Donald Winnicott who introduced us to “The False Self” in 1960; and later, Dr. Gary Zukav and his teachings of “Authentic Empowerment”; also we have learned about “The Ego” through Eckhart Tolle; and have unleashed our “Power of Vulnerability” with the help of Dr. Brené Brown.

Yet, despite all this self-development and personal growth, the truth is, we are still feeding our phony Social Face. And I’m not referring to wearing make-up or putting on our best clothes when we face the world; I’m referring to a façade that we armor-up in order to survive in today’s social climate.

STATE-OF-SPIRIT

Homo Sapiens is Latin for wise person. But are we truly all that wise when we don’t fully live as ourselves?

Conceivably, our generation will be defined not by our state-of-the-union, or even our state-of-mind, but by our state-of-spirit, and how we either evolved into true-faced beings—or became extinct.

But I wonder, can we really put down our weapons: our fully loaded, polished-up, socially correct versions of what we will allow the world to see? And, who will go first? Can we cease the standoff?

Think about this: If we could be brave enough to disarm our social game, would we then feel the loss of our Social Face?

YOUR BETTER HALF: IT’S HARD LETTING GO

Until we as a society and culture can fully understand its power over us, and get it in perspective, we ought to give it a name or at least capitalize the term ‘Social Face’. You see, we’re very attached to it. After all, it’s our other self; our alter ego; our idea of the best that we have to offer the world; our own personal super hero!

Since almost everyone has one (besides perhaps the Dali Lama and some rare others whom have reached a higher consciousness) you might ask, why would we strive to drop our Social Face?

This question is both the simplest, and the most complex, of any query of our present day culture.

Could it be that to remove our masks of self-protectionism is synonymous with attaining emotional freedom, enlightenment, and dare I say—true happiness?

THE MOVEMENT FROM TWO-FACED TO TRUE-FACED

The bad news and the good news is that, I believe, we are at the peak of this cycle with The Social Face: This issue is about to blow! Yet, once it does, we will enter a new time in the evolution of humanity, and move from two-faced to true-faced.

Maybe, the “Illuminatus Sapiens” (enlightened person) is coming? The movement is heading in that direction. So try stepping out from behind the pretense and become an inspiration to others.

Oh, what a time to be intrepid!
