It's been less than a month since the catastrophic earthquake in Haiti shook the world and left the people homeless. At a time when our own financial resources have been diminished, the world joined together in support of the Haitians during this crisis. You may be asking yourself, "Another Haiti Benefit?" On Thursday, February 4th, entertainers, community leaders, and leading humanitarian relief agencies will gather for a benefit event and concert to support the millions of Haitians left devastated by January's earthquake.
The Haiti Food Project: Second Aid Benefit Presented by MAZON will be held at the American Jewish University, 15600 Mulholland Drive, Bel Air, CA.
It will be an evening of music and inspiration with appearances by Lou Gossett Jr., Deniece Williams, Dave Koz, former members of The Supremes, Freda Payne, and political and religious leaders to support sustainable food, medical care, and stability beyond emergency relief for the people of Haiti. Dr. Deepak Chopra and Her Excellency Geri Benoit-Preval, Haiti's ambassador to the U.N. World Food Program, will share their inspiration and insight. Actress, writer and producer Beverly Todd will emcee the evening.
The Haiti Food Project: Second Aid Benefit is presented by MAZON, a national nonprofit organization that allocates donations from the community to prevent and alleviate hunger among people of all faiths and backgrounds.
"The scope of this tragedy is simply overwhelming," said Dr. H. Eric Shcockman, MAZON's president. "It will take everyone, working in partnership to ensure that Haitians have the resources they need to recover - to go from necessity to prosperity, from survive to thrive."
The beneficiaries of the event include International Medical Corps, Lambi Fund of Haiti, Friends of the Children of Lascahobas, Haiti and Albert Schweitzer Hospital in Haiti.
