We've all heard incredible stories about true love by finding our soul mate, which sometimes almost sounds too good to be true. I decided to put my beliefs to the test in January of 2007, when I relocated from California to Colorado, in search of the love of my life.
My children were grown and this was the first time that I could live wherever I chose. My daughter Carly, came to help me settle into my new home. As we were unpacking and decorating the house I shared my intention to meet my soulmate. I told her that I'd actually created a written list of everything I wanted in my mate -- all 150 things describing the perfect man for me.
As I unpacked a painting I created a few years earlier, Carly stopped me in my tracks. This painting was of one solitary heart, and although it was beautiful, it was only ONE heart. Carly reminded me that I wanted two hearts in this home, not one. We put the painting back in the box and drove to the art store in Boulder, where we purchased a double canvas.
The following day, I drew two interlocking hearts on the back of the canvas, planning to paint two hearts on the front. On "his" side, I wrote... My love is kind, handsome, intelligent, successful, etc, and listed all 150 things that were important to me on the back of the future painting. I figured it I'm going to put it out there, I'm going to do it right!
The next evening I had a date with a man named Darryl, who lived only 2 miles away from me. After a wonderful first date, I gave him a tour of my new home. He saw the canvas on my easel, so I explained what I was doing and why.
Intrigued, he smiled and asked if he could read the back. Although I thought that was pretty brave for a first date, I figured he might as well find out what he's in for right up front. I flipped over the canvas and he smiled saying, "Yes, yep, yeah that one too, almost there but working on that one, yes, yes" as he went from one attribute to another. This new man fit almost perfectly!
The next day Darryl flew out of town for two weeks. During that time we talked each day on the telephone and grew closer, while I painted my heart painting on the canvas each evening.
By the time Darryl returned back to Boulder 2 weeks later, I was already falling in love with him. There was something magical about this relationship and we both felt it. Three weeks later he moved in with me.
We just celebrated our first wedding anniversary this past April and I can't imagine a better relationship. He's everything I included on my list and more.
I completely agree with Arielle Ford, author of The Soulmate Secret, who believes that finding true love is possible for any one at any age if you're willing to prepare your self, on all levels, to become a magnet for love.

The basic Law of Attraction states that you will attract to you those things that match your state of belief. An additional key ingredient is taking action from that place. Just as I believed I would attract the man of my dreams and took inspired action, he came into my life.
The two best things about this principle are that it works for everyone and you don't have to know how. It sounds like a fairy tale, but I'm here to tell you that it can be that easy.
In my heart, I knew my perfect mate was out there for me. I didn't know how he'd show up, or even when, but I knew in my heart that he would. All I had to do was get clear on what I wanted, align myself with that intention and get out of the way. The same experience is waiting for anyone who wants to create love in his or her life.
That take your breath away, deep committed love is possible for anyone, anytime, if you're willing to become a magnet for love. All you have to do is continue to believe and act from the place of knowing, as you wait for your beloved to manifest in front of your eyes and sweep you off your feet. Enjoy the bliss!
