There was coffee, not wine, in Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb's cups Wednesday morning.

The two women took over the top hour of "Today" for the first time ever together on Wednesday...and vowed to keep the alcohol for later.

Gifford and Kotb, who usually co-host the show's fourth hour, joined Matt Lauer at 7 AM as part of NBC's "Homecoming Week." The show will bring on guest anchors all week long while Savannah Guthrie remains on maternity leave.

Lauer joked that when he heard Kathie Lee and Hoda would be hosting, his first thought was, "You're kidding, right?"

Apparently, Hoda was confused too:

But it was true, and Kathie Lee made it official.

"We're sorry that Barbara Walters couldn't make it, ok?" she said. "You're stuck with us!"
