Usain Bolt Wins 100 Meters At World Championships

"I'm just happy."

Two-time Olympic champion Usain Bolt of Jamaica won the 100 meters at the track and field world championships Sunday in Beijing, narrowly defeating American rival Justin Gatlin, The Guardian reported.

Bolt won the gold in 9.79 seconds, followed by Gatlin's 9.80. Andre De Grasse and Trayvon Bromell tied for the bronze at 9.92.

"It definitely means a lot because I've been struggling all season," Bolt told the BBC. "It took me a while to discover what was the problem. And it's all held together so I'm just happy."

Bolt defended his 2013 world title in the same stadium, the Bird's Nest, where he captured Olympic glory in 2008, winning both the 100 and 200 meters in record time. He won both events at the 2012 Olympics as well.
