Reality Star Points Out Everything Wrong With YouTuber's Viral Fat-Shaming Video

After watching a comedian's fat-shaming video go viral, one woman decided she had had enough.

In a video titled "Dear Fat People," YouTuber Nicole Arbour talked about "fat people parking spots," shared a story about a "fat family" at the airport that smelled "like sausages" and told viewers that "fat-shaming is not a thing." Whitney Way Thore, star of TLC's "My Big Fat Fabulous Life," responded to Arbour's commentary with a video of her own.

“Fat-shaming is a thing. It's a really big thing, no pun intended," Thore said. "It is the really nasty spawn of a larger parent problem called body-shaming, which I’m fairly certain everyone on the planet, especially women, has experienced."

Thore, who has polycystic ovarian syndrome, also emphasized that "you cannot tell a person's health, physical or otherwise, from looking at them."

Thore closed the video, which has racked up more than 13 million views on Facebook to date and is part of her "No Body Shame Campaign," with an inspiring body-positive message.

"So this is what I want to say to fat people," she said. "You are loved. You are worthy. You are capable of so much more than you think, and a number, whether it be on a scale or a measuring tape, cannot quantify the value that you have. It cannot count all the ways that this world needs you. It cannot define your health or project your success. Your weight does not measure your worth."
