Yoko Ono Lennon: "Imagine There's No Hunger"

On Monday, my colleague Diane Bondareff had the privilege of photographing backstage -- or should I say, outdoors -- with the legendary Yoko Ono Lennon as she launched a new initiative called "Imagine There's No Hunger," a campaign in support of the fight against childhood hunger around the world.

WhyHunger, an organization with designs to eradicate global hunger and poverty through grassroots solutions, teamed up with Hard Rock International to create a set of "Imagine"-themed merchandise for the campaign. The proceeds will go to WhyHunger's various programs around the world.

The event kicked off with Yoko Ono Lennon stepping out onto the Hard Rock Cafe marquee in Times Square and sending the first tweet in support of this cause in front of a crowd of supporters. "Text IMAGINE to 50555 to donate $10 to WhyHunger & help @HardRock & @WhyHunger feed 1 million children this year #imaginenohunger," she wrote.

Among the crowd were WhyHunger representatives holding giant white balloons, a tribute to the release of 365 balloons that occurred during Yoko Oko Lennon and her husband John Lennon's first art exhibition.
