Did you know that we all see life through different looking glasses? It is your perception of something that counts not your opinion. Your perception of life is completely unique because there is no one on earth quite like you. AND your perception changes as you get older because it is formulated from your beliefs, the way your parents brought you up, the environment you were exposed to, the school you went to, the books you read - if you think back to when you were 15 years old, you saw life very differently then as to how you see life now.

AND your perception changes as you get older because it is formulated from your beliefs, the way your parents brought you up, the environment you were exposed to, the school you went to, the books you read - if you think back to when you were 15 years old, you saw life very differently then as to how you see life now.

Your perception is the way you see things and you believe this is true for you. If you change your perception you change your reality.

You CAN change your perception on life and this is exactly what I did with the relationship with my finances and my mother. I ‘saw’ life from a different angle, a new perspective, a new way, once I changed the meaning I gave certain situations that had formed my perception. I was living a life of blame, nothing was my fault because I wasn’t responsible for myself, it was everyone else’s fault.

An example I shared with a client earlier yesterday was my mother’s perception of a math’s test result - she sees 95% as hopeless and I need to get the 100%, I see it as amazing and happy with it, as no-one is perfect. The truth is the result was 95%. This coloured every area of my life.

The standing point was when I realised that my perception was not the truth. I changed the way I saw certain situations (I changed the lens) so the anger, blame and resentment which was colouring my ‘lens’ changed to one of joy, happiness and love - my new perception I gave to life.

What this gave me was not only a new way of looking at life but a much larger vision of life - it was like my eyes just kept getting wider and wider so I am able to see ‘more and more things’; life was not black and white anymore.

We actually see life as we are and not as they are.

The impact has been incredible…..I now naturally see the good in situations, something I could never have done before without force. Changing your perception of how you see the world and understanding that it is NOT the truth will open up opportunities you would never have previously noticed.

“We see the world, not as it is, but as we are──or, as we are conditioned to see it.”

Stephen R. Covey. I love this quote from his book.

How do you perceive your world?
