Mike Huckabee: The Dope From Hope

digg Share this on Facebook Huffpost - stumble reddit del.ico.us RSS

Presidential candidate Mike Huckabee has made oodles of gaffes in recent days, but here's one more blunder for Iowa's caucasians to ponder before they caucus:

CNN: Presidential candidates relaunch Letterman and Leno showshttp://www.cnn.com/2008/SHOWBIZ/TV/01/02/hollywoodlabor.latenight.ap/index.html

The return of TV's late-night funnymen after a two-month strike hiatus turned into a bizarre mix of picketing and presidential politics Wednesday as Mike Huckabee headed for Jay Leno's show and Clinton turned to Letterman.

GOP hopeful Huckabee appeared confused over which of the two late-night hosts had reached a separate deal with the union representing striking TV and movie writers.

Huckabee said he supports the writers and did not think he would be crossing a picket line, because he believed the writers had made an agreement to allow late-night shows on the air...

Late Wednesday, the Writers Guild of America issued a statement saying that the guild "thanks the former governor for his strong statement of support for striking writers and hopes that he will not cross the picket lines at NBC."

However, Huckabee appeared on the show despite the calls from the striking writers, according to NBC.

Do we really want a president who can't even figure out which TV host signed a deal with the WGA? How can he be expected to understand the complexities of the Middle East if he can't grasp Dave vs. Jay?

Alternatively, maybe he and his advisors knew precisely the status of Leno's striking writers and Huckabee was simply lying his ass off. Haven't we had our fill of that too?

The slimey dishonesty of Romney is the only reason anyone is paying attention to this yokel.
I'll repeat what I've said before: we should have sent ALL the candidates to The Caucasus, not the caucuses, and gotten a new bunch of replacements. Then we might have a candidate qualified to be president.

One thing you can trust Huckenstein to do:

BE WRONG!

Whoops, we just had one of those guys.....

I don't give a damn whether the next president can distinguish between the TV hosts. I want a president who recognizes the Iraq war is a sham and who will end it!

The guy who thinks the world is 6 thousand years old beat the guy who thinks the garden of Eden was in Missouri.
That so many people think either is fit for office is deeply disturbing. As if we are searching for the person with the most primitive belief system to lead us, to wield our nuclear arsenal.
I do not want a president who thinks the apocalypse is a good idea. I dont even think people who think that should be allowed to vote.
Jesus isn't coming and the dead will stay so and we shouldn't be trying to lead anything based on such notions.

let's see....

huckabee (whatever you think of him) crosses the picket line and wins iowa in a big way.

leno (sans writers) beats letterman (with wga staff).

think anyone outside hollywood really gives a damn about this thing?

While the writers strike might not be the most important issue, this goober didn't even know what the National Intelligence Estimate (NIE) is. I guess Jesus forgot to tell him.

Jeeez! Haven't we already had the Village Idiot for President? Surely we don't need to repeat the debacle that has been the last 7 years! That the Huckster is even in the running shows the depths to which the GOP has sunk. They are in Neverland if they think this guy can get elected.

I hate to step on anyone's narcissism, but outside the entertainment industry, most people don't think the WGA strike is very important. Why should Huckabee necessarily be "up" on all the details of this relatively trivial issue?

News Flash Eric, not all of us are on the edge of our seats concerning the "writer's" strike.

There are plenty of things to harang the Huckester about. He is an 8-ball, no doubt.

But the "writer's" strike? Honestly, who cares except the writers, TV actors and that group of people who consume that stuff which is shrinking by the day? I pride myself for not being able to name one current sit-com on the networks. What garbage that stuff is in the vast wasteland that is network TV.

Huckabee has shown time after time on the trail that he has not been advised by anyone around him or if he was he didn't know what they were talking about. Current news is not what he has been aware for some time according to other blogs. Stupid is as stupid does fits him and Forrest Gump was only a good movie not someone we want in office.

I'll say it again. Republicans are not human by normal standards. They do not have to play by the same rules we earthlings do. Lies are truth, up is down, war is peace, secrecy is transparancy, etc., etc., etc. So do not expect them to behave in a 'normal' manner. The Huckster supports the writers ergo he must break their strike for their own good. I think God told him to do that. Or maybe it was his campaign manager, he always gets the two mixed up. Oh, well...
