So I'm sure that if you've seen the news, read your Facebook newsfeed, checked out your tweets or any social media platform at all you're completely aware of the tragedy that took place here in America! I first saw it on my Facebook newsfeed, as I'm not really one to watch the news because I don't agree with the direction of mass media (but that's a story for another day). I remember reading the headline three times before it all set in
50 Killed, 53 Injured at an Orlando Nightclub
My mind was immediately in a whirlwind thinking of my family that lives there and scrambling to make sure they were ok. Then my mind went to all the AMAZING women that I now consider colleagues that I've met during my entrepreneurial journey. Some that I've never met in person, others I have and even talk with on the phone. Regardless of whether I've met them in person or not I found myself genuinely concerned for their safety. As they all began using the safety check-in feature on Facebook I was able to breathe easier.
In everything I look for the lesson that I can learn in this taught me a couple of valuable things that I want to pass on to you all.
- Tomorrow is not promised! - This is something that I have heard people say my entire life, however with all going on around us this rings much more urgently as truth. However, I don't take this warning as a reason to hide or ball up in a corner and never go outside. Quite the opposite. I take it as an invitation to live the biggest and best life that I can TODAY! To make a difference in the lives of others TODAY! To build my business and help those assigned to me TODAY! Build my legacy TODAY! Because I may not have a chance to build it tomorrow.
With these two lessons I've learned I encourage you to STOP waiting and build your business and embrace your purpose. Stop waiting for tomorrow, for perfect circumstances (because it will NEVER be perfect), and definitely stop waiting for someone to grant you permission. Go for the vision that has been given to you, and don't try to do it alone. Stop just "friending", "liking", and "following" people on social media and start "connecting" with them instead. Build true relationships those that you connect with.
One thought that has come to me as I write this; has now lite a wildfire within my soul:
What if one of the people I was designed to touch, help or inspire were among those 50 killed and because I took so long to step into my destiny because of my fears, I missed my opportunity to do so?
Life and connection runs deep and just the thought of this possibility brings tears to my eyes and a new-found determination to my spirit.
I pray that once you read these words the same will be for you. You don't know who you're here to impact with your life and your business so it's time out for playing small and trying to remain insignificant. Because we are ALL divinely significant in this world. So I'll leave you with one of my favorite quotes:
