Dream Until Your Dreams Come True

Dear Governor Perry: Your comments on immigration really woke me up from the snooze debate. Your commanding, and I might add, sensitive voice has given me pause.

Dear Governor Perry,

Damn you are good! Just when I was ready to write you off after some of those cockamamie things you have said, you go and say something like: "If you say that we should not educate children who have come into our state for no other reason than they've been brought there by no fault of their own, I don't think you have a heart."

You know how to push my buttons and you have proved to me that Bachmann and Santorum are D.O.A. for most of the Latino community. Now Governor, I have been fooled before. A certain charismatic senator promised he'd enact Comprehensive Immigration Reform the first year he was in office and I fell for it hook, line and stinker, I mean sinker.

What I didn't realize is that while the good senator may have meant it, his White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel was reading the internal polls that showed Latinos would continue to support the president regardless of whether Immigration Reform was ever passed, largely because Latinos had nowhere else to go. No wonder the White House was so worried about former Governor Huntsman -- but we can thank the far right for distancing themselves from Huntsman and shutting him out as a viable 2012 GOP presidential candidate.

Boy howdy, your comments on immigration really woke me up from the snooze debate. Governor, I am still thinking about how powerful your statement was to those other melee mouth Republicans opposed to Latino Dreamers. Your commanding, and I might add, sensitive voice has given me pause. I am still a bit skittish about buying the horse, but the saddle is starting to look mighty comfortable and enticing; so keep talkin'. I am listening, tell me more.
