Jack In The Box Debuts Breakfast Waffle Sandwich

Posted: 07/12/2012 8:53 am

Jack in the Box is bolstering its breakfast offerings by adding a limited-time Breakfast Waffle Sandwich to their menu.

The McGriddle-esque sandwich features an egg, American cheese and the chain's new "country-grilled sausage" layered between two waffles, sweetened with maple. Like the rest of their breakfast menu, the fast food chain is offering this sandwich all day long.

Each Breakfast Waffle Sandwich will run you $2.79 plus tax a la carte, or $4.19 plus tax for a combo that includes a sandwich, hash browns coffee, soda or orange juice.

The nutritional breakdown of the sandwich is as follows: 479 calories, 33 grams of fat, 11 grams of saturated fat, 1 gram of trans fat, 271 milligrams of cholesterol, 983 milligrams of sodium, 24 grams of carbohydrates, 1 gram of fiber, 6 grams of sugar, and 19 grams of protein.

This looks delicious, and I'm a gluten free vegetarian. HAHAHA. But that's because I have fond memories of Jack. Sigh...

We have completely abandoned fast food for health and safety reasons. We have to watch the chemicals and toxins we ingest - and I am convinced this fast food is responsible for 80% of the health care costs in America. We are buying Organic food storage from www.survivalfoodguys.com now and are very happy with the result.

I would totally try making a healthy version of that. Savory waffles stuffed with grilled eggplant, caramelized onions and wilted spinach maybe.

The healthy version would be without the waffles, not by replacing fat and protein with more starchy carbohydrates. The egg is the healthiest thing in this mess.

Carbs are essential to human health. And eggplant, spinach and onion are all very low carb.

@plantbasedpunk - you speaketh my language ...

there are wonderful waffle options that are healthy.   i contrary to the other comment, i happen to think eating well has to appeal to all the sense -- or else, it becomes a tedious chore.
