As if planning a wedding isn't hard enough, you have to plan a honeymoon on top of that. I think the goal for most couples is to escape to a private, beautiful destination where you can just enjoy each other's company. There are some overused locations in the US that you can resort to, but why would you want to spend the vacation of your lifetime somewhere you can visit anytime? Honeymoons abroad are becoming a huge trend, and it's no surprise why.

Personally, when I think about where I want to spend my future honeymoon, I think of somewhere unique and quaint. I want there to be beautiful views and fun activities that you can't do every day. It's kind of hard to find a place like that, that will fit in your budget. Some people spend up to $10,000 on their honeymoon alone, which may sound like a lot. Every honeymoon is different, and you don't have to feel pressured to spend so much. Do your research and decide where you think is best for you. I have compiled a quick list of some unique, yet amazing honeymoon destinations abroad.

Bora Bora

I couldn't make an inclusive honeymoon location list without naming Bora Bora. With beautiful clear blue waters, and awe inspiring villas right on top of the water, it's no surprise this tops most people's lists of go-to vacation spots. This may not be the most unique destination, but it will not disappoint. You and your brand new spouse can relax in the lagoon, visit the Coral Gardens, and take in the local culture. There is so much to do in Bora Bora, but if it were me, I'd never leave my villa on the water.

Wales

The UK is home to some amazing travel destinations, especially for honeymoons. Wales is home to 3 different national parks, the Black Mountains, metropolitan areas, and many beautiful coastlines along the sea. Brecon Beacons is one of the 3 national parks, and this is where you can find the Black Mountains. You can take a breathtaking hike through the woods to reach Henrhyd Falls, the highest waterfall in South Wales. There are picturesque waterways and canals that you can walk alongside, or take a boat ride through. This would make the honeymoon of a lifetime, as you can get away from the real world and slow down to soak in the beauty of Wales.

Ireland

A romantic getaway to Ireland is on the top of my wish list. After watching P.S. I Love You, what sane girl doesn't want to go there? With historical buildings and castles, beautiful views, and of course- those accents- we have every right to be dying to go there. You can gaze out into the wide blue ocean atop a limestone cliff, and then explore the many heritage towns, that are littered with cute old-fashioned cottages.

India

One of the most romantic destinations for your honeymoon is India. Vibrant colors, peaceful houseboats, and illuminated city skylines makes this destination like a dream. Udaipur is home to some of the most beautiful architectural structures, and the City Palace draws in many tourists every day. The folk art museums are the perfect activity for you and your love to soak in the history and culture of this beautiful location.

No matter where you go, make it a great honeymoon. Enjoy the time you get to spend with your significant other, and bask in the "newlywed" joy. You don't have to choose someplace that is over-done or cliché, although there is nothing wrong with that. Traveling abroad is something that everyone should do at least once in their lives, and what better time than when you still have the after-glow from marrying your true love.
