Your face is one of the first things people see when meeting you. I know firsthand how annoying it is when you feel like all they can see is your red blemishes. If it's not that, it might be your annoying skin tags or eczema. We all want that flawless, smooth skin we see on TV, but that's not realistic for so many of us. The good news is, there is a lot we can do naturally to try and smooth our skin and get rid of blemishes. What we eat, detergent we use, clothes we wear, and products we put in our hair can affect our skin in negative ways.

If you can narrow down your problem and find out what causes it to flare up, you can also determine how to clear it up. If you could eliminate a food from your diet, and it cleared up your skin, wouldn't that be the first thing you did? Not every skin problem is solved so easily, but it is worth it to try and resolve your issues the easy way when possible. Trying to clear up your skin blemishes might be easier than you think.

Acne

The thing with acne is that there are so many different causes, so it can be hard to narrow it down. Eating greasy foods, not drinking enough water, and reactions to chemicals you use in your daily life can be the culprit, or you may not be washing your face good enough. For starters, you should find a good face wash for your skin type, and try washing your face every day. You should always remove any makeup and/or wash your face every night, because it can get pretty dirty throughout the day.

If that doesn't work, you can try a wide variety of natural remedies, ranging from lemon juice to apple cider vinegar. These things are known for naturally reducing your pimples, but they might not be able to prevent them from happening in the first place. Eliminating certain foods that cause acne from your diet can help prevent it, such as dairy and sugar. You should also take notice of what seems to make your acne worse. Did you try a new shampoo or laundry detergent? You may be having a reaction. Finding a correlation can help you eliminate the problem. If all else fails, a dermatologist can help you find out the cause and solve your skin problems.

Skin Tags

Skin tags are more annoying than anything. They are not harmful, which is the important part. If you are sick of looking at your skin tags every day, there are things you can do to try and prevent them. There is no medically proven reason for why skin tags form, but it is believed that skin-on-skin friction is the likely cause. If you wear tight clothes, you are also more likely to get skin tags on the areas that get the most friction, like your neck or armpits. You are more at risk of skin tags if you are obese, pregnant, or have diabetes. The best way to prevent skin tags and promote overall health is by eating right and exercising. Being obese makes your likelihood of skin tags a lot higher, because there is more skin to skin contact. Maintaining a healthy weight is the best way to live, and your body will repay you by reducing your chances of skin tags. If that's not working, try to wear clothing that is not so tight, or apply powder in high-friction areas.

Eczema

While acne and skin tags are annoying, they don't compare to eczema. Not only is it annoying, but it is very uncomfortable for those who suffer from it. Eczema is complicated because there are so many possible triggers. What you eat, the temperature outside, pollen or dust in the air, and stress are just a few of the factors that may trigger an outbreak. The only way to effectively prevent your eczema outbreaks is to find out what is causing it in your specific case. Everyone is different, and not everyone is triggered by the same environmental factors. Keep a journal of when you have outbreaks, and try to figure out if you are eating the same foods each time you have an outbreak, if it happens when you switch detergent, if it flares up only in the winter, or if your house seems to be a bit dusty or if you are around someone who smokes. Finding out what seems to be the cause will help you prevent it in the most natural way possible. It could be as simple as avoiding nuts, or switching your laundry soap.

As it is with most things in the world, it is all trial and error. You might not find out what is causing your skin issues right away, and that's ok. Keep trying and stay consistent, and your skin will reward you. I know how annoying it is to worry about red spots and ugly marks on my skin, and feeling helpless. You're not alone, either. So many of us have skin issues that we wish would go away, but won't. If you feel helpless, go to a doctor! There may be an underlining health issue that they can diagnose and come up with a solution to clear up your face. No matter what, you are beautiful, no matter what skin problems you feel like you have.
