Because she will remind people of Reese Witherspoon in "Legally Blond."
Because she will remind people of Kevin Klein in "Dave."
Because she will remind people of Geena Davis in "Commander in Chief" where Geena Davis was just supposed to help the guy get elected and then the guy died, and Geena Davis wouldn't resign, and she was a good president, better than Donald Sutherland even, who was the better actor. People still got tortured though.
Because of photo-ops with Huskies.
Dan Quayle.
Because I'm imagining Cuba Gooding Jr. in the Cabinet.
Because oil is a supporting character.
Because no one could be worse than George W. Bush as president so the argument that you don't have any experience gets weaker. The plumber could be better. Let's make a movie about it.
Because people like the Hollywood ending where the regular guy who is posing as President sits down at the kitchen table and balances the budget, or the sorority girl who comes out head of her class at Harvard Law and everyone cheers and is happy in the end.
Because if you pit Alaska against Hawaii, Alaska seems tougher.
Because she seems to have a bear draped over her couch.
Because somehow there is going to be subtext that pro-choice people faced with difficult
reproductive decisions don't often also make tough decisions toward life.
Because of the untruths of multiple story lines.
Because I smell Karl Rove.
Because First Vice-Dude sounds cooler than First Vice-Man.
Because she reportedly doesn't believe the first man evolved.
Ronald Reagan, Arnold Swarcheneggger, Jesse Ventura.
Because George Bush won in the first place.
Because Adlai Stevenson, when told every thinking American in the United States would vote for him, called out that he needed a majority.
Because he lost.

Lets break this down to the bottom line.......Bristle had a choice......your daughters will not if these guys are elected.
I raised a bunch of sons.....Sarah raised five children.
I was a beauty title holder three times .....Sarah was Miss Alaska.
I was a PTO mom...Sarah was a PTA Mom.
I was a soccer , football , track, swimming, rugby, student government, NHS, Band, choir, cub scout, science club, ect. mom.... Sarah was a hockey mom.
I have been a hands on supporter of special Olympics and an advocate of planned parenthood and our womens shelter. I raise money for breast cancer research and MS.
I have been active in local government for thirty years ....Sarah has for what....eight?
I am a hunter and can field dress a deer.....So can Sarah.
I am a community activist and organizer.....I attended college.
I have been married to " my guy" for over 35 years.
I helped to build a prosperous business.......My point is that she isn't special. All women do this stuff and more without even thinking about it.
I am NOT qualified to be the Vice President of the most important country on the planet. Neither is she.
I do not see a strong woman. A strong woman does not have the need to belittle others and sneer. She used to be a sportscaster so she can read a teleprompter. Great. She scares me because she is clueless and smug and nasty and vindictive. How many black people live in Wasilla? Has she any experience with what life is like for poor people in cities like Chicago? Does she even know what a community organizer does? She lied about herself and the bridge. She is the earmark QUEEN. She lied about Obama. And now McCain says he wants to work with everyone? After his self-described pit bull with lipstick gave the most condescending ,shrill and divisive speech I have ever heard? Cindy and John sounded a lot like Dems tonight. Was that an apology for Sarah or just to inject some civility? Sarah Palin is an arrogant, narrow-minded person and if she was a man I would say just the same. Rudy is in her camp for nastiness and he is a man but he's not running for Veep. Heaven help us if they get elected. She gives America a bad name and is the quintessential ugly American. Yep, yep.
I talked to an old friend this weekend, and she literally told me that she was going to vote for McCain instead of Obama, because "Obama dissed Hillary" and "this way, we get a woman into the White House", even though she disagreed 100% with McCain's positions.
I think I talked some sense into her. But that's just one person.
The right-wingers in this country have been dumbing down our culture and our schools for decades now. It certainly paid off in stupid, ignorant easily-manipulated voters.
The only thing scary here is your blatant hatred and misogyny towards another women - seriously, you need help. Professional help.
The hatred towards Palin and her family from liberals is part of the reason they will lose the election.
"It's like Legally Blonde!"
"Her family is white trash!"
"She might be nice but she has a family to raise!"
"Her priority should be her job as a mother!"
You are just dripping with condescension towards her. And the irony is that NOTHING is tackier or cheesier or more like some really bad B-movie than that horrible Fake-Greco-Roman-Looks-Like-The-Set-Of-Some-American-Idol-contest stage that was used at the convention last week so people would be reminded he is a CELEBRITY now.
How is ScarJo doing anyway? Any more emails lately?

Oh it usually takes several years of festering for hatred to develop, and I just found out she existed two days ago. She seems kind of cool to me and I welcome the discussion about motherhood and work That discussion has been going on for a long time, but I love hearing Republicans say, "you wouldn't say that about a man." They wouldn't. And I hated the misogyny directed toward Clinton and am sure some is going to be directed at Palin. But I'm dripping with condescension toward us, not her, toward a society that buys into preset narrative and image over fact or research. That that narrative might possibly override common sense is what scares me.
I actually agree with you on the staging of Obama's speech--it was a little too Rock Star for me, but I am really glad he chose, as a running mate, someone I would feel comfortable taking over the presidency.
Your response doesn't really make sense so I'm not sure what your point is.
If you don't understand why comparing her to the character in Legally Blonde is offensive then there is nothing that I can do to explain it to you. I don't think you hate her as an individual but I think there is some hatred towards women in general unless they conform to your preconceived notion of what "serious" women should be.
And I'm not a Republican either - I'm uncomfortable with JC for many reasons. I won't vote for him.
Because, with her record, she is changing old corruption for a new corruption.
Brilliant. She scares me for all those reasons too. She could win this for the Repubs.
You could add though, the main reason people voted for Gdubya the second time: "Because I know he shares my values. I don't need to know nothing else."
God (yes, the God even a Democrat or Independent is still allowed to believe in in Republican dominated America) help us.
One of the main reasons i heard from people who voted for Dub-ya the second time around was "He's pro-life ." & most of the time that was the only reason they voted for him. I would like to ask, just what did he do for the pro-life movement? If the the Repubs get in again, we're going to need a miracle to fix this country. Actually, we need one now. Obama may not be a miracle, but he's as close as we're going to get to one.
just what did he do for the pro-life movement?
they don't have to DO anything, they just have to pay lip service.
It's OK. Alot of people are afraid of strong women. It's kind of sad when it is another woman that is afraid, but admitting it is always the first step.
I am a man, yes, and I have no issue with strong women. Palin is not IMHO strong in any positive sense; being an authoritarian religious extremist does not make one strong, only tyrannical.
We've already had eight years of the most tyrannical VP in American history. We don't need another VP consumed by ambition and self-aggrandizement at the expense of We The People.

I am not afraid of strong women, but I am very wary of women who would strip other women of their rights. Palin is such a woman. May her candidacy go down in flames.
Why is it then when a black woman is strong, she is angry? Answer me that.
What exactly is a strong woman? Just that fact you think a woman is "strong" that is reason enough she would be qualified to be VP or president? I would rather have an intelligent woman who at least pursued graduate studies, has exposed herself to diverse situations in the world to expand her perspective and understanding (traveling extensively, engaging in global organizations), who walks the talk (not taking government money when she said she opposes it). In fact, if someone met this criteria, it would be irrelevant if they were a woman or man. Come to think of it, this describes Barack Obama to the tee!
