An efficient City of Detroit government will not translate to a collapse; it will create the environment in which to thrive.

Change is hard! It's especially difficult when leadership fails to articulate the new vision of a Greater Detroit, as the achievable outcome. Detroiters who endure the sacrifice must be shown "why" and "how" their actions equate to a brighter future for our beloved city.

There has been significant energy dedicated in battling change instead of embracing that inevitability. There is much chatter about loss of control, hostile takeover and the like.

If we redirect this energy to restoring fiscal stability for our city, these issues will vanish and we can focus on improving our quality of life. I realize change is hard!

We must alter our mindset to see the Detroit that IS possible.

What does Detroit look like in 90 days, in six months and in two years? What is the impact of a balanced budget? What is the benefit of no structural deficit? What is the impact on public safety? What is the impact on public transportation?

What will be said about Detroit when delivery of core services surpasses industry standards?

These are questions I will address in future blog posts, as well as on my Facebook page.

I leave you with this: An efficient City of Detroit government will create the environment to thrive. This is the vision I encourage us all to share.
