To read Sarah Palin's shockingly shallow Going Rogue, one is immediately struck by how nasty and vindictive Palin is and by the fact that her book is little more than a veiled mechanism for settling scores with old foes who have triumphed over Palin throughout her lifetime.
Is Palin really going rogue? Hardly. Getting even is more like it.
Palin's biggest score to settle is with those senior advisers--Republicans all--in the John McCain campaign, on whose shoulders Palin lays the blame for her failed and tortured debut on the American political stage last fall. Most notable among them, of course, is "The Bullet," Steve Schmidt, who took over McCain's teetering campaign in July of 2008 and was a staunch advocate of Palin's selection as McCain's running mate.
He has told the Huffington Post that Palin's allegations against the McCain campaign are "total fiction."
Schmidt now joins a host of former McCain staffers, including Mark Salter and Nicolle Wallace, who have challenged the veracity of Palin's book even before it hits the streets on Tuesday. One McCain aide who worked closely with Palin and who "liked her personally" described Palin's account of the campaign as "blatantly and absolutely inaccurate."
McCain aides are shocked-- though not entirely surprised--by Palin's allegations. They caught enough of her act during the 60-plus days of her campaign sojourn to know that she plays "fast and loose with the truth."
As for Palin labeling Schmidt "cool," "grim-faced" and "rotund," Schmidt, a former high school tight end with a beefy six-foot frame, joked, "Why are they always picking on the bald guy?"

A former Bush operative widely respected in Republican circles for his managerial skills and focused demeanor, Schmidt is precisely the type of disciplined task master that Palin has bristled against all her life. The scattered Palin's biggest complaint about Schmidt: he's "business to the bone."
Heaven forbid.
Palin contends that Schmidt came to her midway through the campaign and confronted her about her consumption of so-called Atkins bars and told her that she needed to "get off that Atkins Diet." In fact, Schmidt and campaign manager Rick Davis had heard concerns from both staffers and the press that Palin was dieting to the point of impacting her performance on the campaign. Palin, according to senior staffers, was concerned about not looking heavy on camera and was thoroughly obsessive about her appearance and every little comment that was made about her looks.
Palin also contends that in the aftermath of her humiliating prank phone call by a comedian posing as French president Nicolas Sarkozy that Schmidt called Palin angrily screaming, "How can anyone be so stupid?!"
According to two McCain sources, one of whom was on the bus with Palin at the time, the phone call never happened. "There was an email," he said, "but never a phone call. This is a pure fabrication."
Palin also contends that Schmidt used profanity in front of her young daughter Piper. Those who have worked closely with Schmidt are most outraged by this particular Palin assertion. "Steve is a great father to his young kids and totally respectful of children," said a long time associate who has worked with Schmidt in "different capacities," including on the McCain campaign. "I never saw it happen. Not once. That charge is 'other worldly'."

The Palin money-maker may seem like a vengeful, mean-spirited and downright petty persona to political progressives who still believe in their phantom democratic republic, but Sister Sarah's flock of angry theocratic sheep, will put the discounted best-seller, Going Rogue aka Vanity Uncensored, next to the Bible in their minimalist libraries. Beware: ordinary God-fearing and not God-fearing folks are losing their homes, their struggles to make ends meet and many, their livelihoods that have gone abroad forever, They are worried about putting food on the table and their kids getting an education, higher or not, and are unconcerned about what Sarah said vs. what Schmidt said. Will they bother to vote for blue dogs or red dogs?? Sister Sarah is the titular head of an energized voting bloc no matter what we think of their intellect and she is being bankrolled by Big Bucks with vested interests. Money speaks louder than the truth after three decades of the greed-on-steroids American dream. In 2010, she will be a force to be reckoned with no matter how many intellectuals, conservative and progressive, and professional politicos that she offends with her inanity.
And S. Palin is smiling all the way to the bank....
I'm sure she is happy with all the attention that her book is getting.
Keeps her on the band wagon...
How about those critics...
Sounds a little like "thou doth protest too much"

Who is "protesting"? Just telling it like it is....which your namesake isn't doing.
Do you even understand the quote from Shakespeare that you are referencing? Because your post doesn't make sense.
Yeah. Couldn't help but notice the nonsensical mixed metaphors. I'd try to reply but I just can't figure it out.
She's a vindictive person !!!
When is someone in the media going to interview Levi again so he can give the american people the real deal on Palin? What are the media afraid of ? If the media would stop trailing all over the country , she would go home and take care of her family. We have heard everthing she has to say and it all is reperticious .We heard enough.
Same thing about health care reform. The politicians keep saying the same things over and over again. The media has ignored the stories of millions of Americans who have no health insurance. Why aren't they being interviewed? Putting a human face (not Palin's) is something worth listening to.
Sarah Palin is a person much like Bill O'Reilly . She talks just to hear herself speak and really does not speak english . How would she adress the Queen of Englandgotcha with words like , right on ,gotcha, and all the other words that ate totally inapropriate for anyone to use who is adressing a crowd of intelligent people . She is a woman with decent looks and no brain and tries to cover up the fact that she is totally uninformed . Why does she not just take the up front money , go away and take some political classes . Maybe one day she could do a reality show , after all that is how Elisabeth Hasslebeck got her start and we all know what she is all about ,{uninformed and air headed}. There are already too many of those type on cable tv now . Palin should have served out her time as Gov , she would atleast erned some respect for sticking to something . The fact that she attended FIVE colleges should have been a red flag for the McCain people before picking her for a running mate. After all looks are not everthing in the end.She is mad at Caty Couric because she outed her as a airhead . Couric is hard on most of her interviews that is why she is not liked very much.
"Sarah Palin is much like Bill O'Reilly." There, I fixed your opening sentence. That "person" stuff just gave Palin and O'Reilly waaaaaay too much credit.
The definition of rogue is: a dishonest, mischevous, worthless person.
Why is anyone surprised that a book with the title, Going Rogue, is packed full of lies. It's all right there on the cover jacket.
Can we move on now?
Her egoism is her achilles tendon, and it will be the death of her ambitions. I bet the time will come when she crosses a line and becomes a liability to the powers on the right, when she no longer serves their agenda. And she will be rolled under the bus in a new york minute, so fast it'll make her pretty head spin. These folks take no prisoners, and she's really really deluded if she thinks she's in the driver's seat.
All these things you are predicting already happened!
I guess you're right -- but I think she's still the darling of some of the further fringe power brokers on the Right, and has had her balloon buoyed by their efforts in the media and out in public settings. I think all I mean is that she's not doing this on her own - she's still being used by people more powerful than she. The religious right, for one.
"Absolute Fiction". Why is it when a women makes statements, men are always the ones who discount them. There is a big difference between 'her truth' and what you guys want Americans to believe. Heaven forbid you should ever be wrong on anything you think, believe or state. I haven't read the book but to claim a total fabrication and fiction painting a broad brush is not credible. I'll believe 1/2 of what Sarah states over 100% of some people out there who I wouldn't believe if their tongue came notarized.
"..what you guys want Americans to believe..." You mean: the actual truth, based on actual verified facts, as opposed to "her truth," a.k.a., vindictive lies? Yeah, I'll go for actual truth. BTW I'm sure there will be many female McCain staffers with plenty to say about "her truth."
Wow. You've got it all badkwards.
Plenty of women, especially those in Alaska, have discounted Palin. You just can't handle the truth. People are pointing out specific errors, just as they pointed out specific errors in her campaign speeches. What more do you want? Grow up and admit she's a major liability to the Republicans. She has no intellect, no integrity, no leadership ability ... but a lot of ego.
I'm less interested in whether her book is true than WHAT is in her book. It's now clear that the book is about Sarah. Faced with a fairy tale opportunity to publish a bestseller, she could've written anything. Why not a step back to reflect on the progress the country has made in electing an African American president (lending weight to her criticism of Obama) and maybe even putting a woman in the oval office (hint, hint). There are many things that would have been SO EASY to publish and increase readership. The fact is, her story should be exciting.... Instead, given a once in a century opportunity, she talks about petty wrongs done to her. The sum effect is of someone NOT in control. A victim. It's self-absorbed complaining from a small-time politician, way out of her element.
It never mattered what was in the book. The Sarah lovers would love it and the Sarah haters would hate it. And Sarah would collect a lot of cash and attention.
Maybe, but she'll wind up spending most of that cash on legal bills.
Good point.
Is this article suggesting we believe ANYBODY involved with this train wreck of a party? Of course, they're ALL going to be shading the story so they each look like the epitome of decent behavior when in reality they ALL are opportunistic asshats. Ignore them and eventually they will go away.
Yeah, if only they could be forthright and honest like the Dems.
(AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA...Oh man...my ribs...)
I honestly think people just dont get it. This woman is out for the money. She doesnt intend to run for President and probably never has. Everyday the media talks about her and gives her all the publicity she needs to sell her book. If she was really serious about a political career, she would have stayed in office and ran again. Quit talking about her and maybe she will disappear into the sunset.
Isn't silly Sarah herself "total fiction" defined as:
1. a. An imaginative creation or a pretense that does not represent actuality but has been invented.
b. The act of inventing such a creation or pretense.
2. A lie.
3. a.. A literary work whose content is produced by the imagination and is not necessarily based on fact.
b.The category of literature comprising works of this kind, including novels and short stories.
4. Law Something untrue that is intentionally represented as true by the narrator.
Palin sounds like a real match to me.
Well, does anyone really expect she could tell the truth about this any more than she could tell the truth about not knowing anything really about National Politics? I mean come on..you have to be pretty gullible to believe everything she says at this point. A grain of salt..from both sides I would expect needs to be taken on the issue of Sarah Palin's grievences with the RNC. Really..a grain of salt..perhaps a shaker or two for both sides is in order.
It's unfair to hold Palin to truth as a standard.
This is something she has no interest in and has never attempted.
go bachmann/palin 2012!
I hope so! That would be great! Can you imagine the debates? I'd get a bucket of kettle corn and sit back and enjoy the ride!
Oh dear..I don't think SNL can parody that any better than real life could make it :)
Oh please God let it come to pass!
