They said it was over. They said she couldn't come back. They said she was done. But the pundits and the pollsters and the naysayers got it wrong, and Senator Clinton and all of her dedicated supporters got it right! This race has just begun.
Senator Clinton's victory in New Hampshire was breathtaking. It was an extraordinary affirmation of the power of voters over predictions, pundits and polls.
But Tuesday's stunning win is about more than election results. This isn't a horse race. This is a fight for a better America, an America that lives up to its ideals, an America where the basic promise of our country will ring true again – that if you work hard and play by the rules you can get ahead and give your children the opportunity to live a better life. This is a fight to end the war in Iraq, give every man, woman and child the medical care they need, and revive America's middle class.
Senator Clinton's campaign is about changing America and electing the leader with the strength and experience to get it done. But it's about something deeper than that. People in America feel invisible, like no one really cares about their problems – and won't care enough to really do something to help them. Americans feel powerless and overwhelmed by big economic forces, like globalization. The Hillary Clinton I know gets that, and she's not content to simply talk about it. The Hillary I know understands that people struggle every day and expect their government to be on their side. This is what Hillary talked about last night in her victory speech.
I want to congratulate Hillary and the campaign, AFSCME's devoted activists, and all of the unions, other organizations and volunteers who worked so hard to make Tuesday's victory possible. And I want to thank the voters of New Hampshire for turning this race around and showing that Senator Clinton has what it takes to win the nomination and take back the White House in November.
I'm proud that thousands of AFSCME members, staff and leaders have been working diligently every day to make Hillary Clinton our next President. They understand the importance of this election and the critical importance of this union backing up its endorsement with everything we've got.
Last night taught us all that Hillary Clinton is a fighter and that we should never, ever give up. We won because we believed in ourselves, our candidate and our vision, and we won because we worked so hard. In fact, according to exit polls, union voters made a decisive difference; 40 percent voted for Clinton, while 29 percent went for Obama. Among non-union members, 38 percent chose Clinton and 39 percent picked Obama.
We all know what we need to do next – redouble our efforts, work harder than before and give this everything we've got in the states ahead. With the AFSCME Green Machine in high gear, we're going to win this election! We will turn our country around!

You are Right it is a fight for America, But she ain't my girl!
Votes for the initiation of the invasion of both Afghanistan & Irag, continued funding with out demanding accountablity or even a plan (did she ever get her 'request for an Exit plan- did she scream loud & clear- No, she gave them more money)Did she have the comprehension of th eConstituion enough to realize the "Patriot Act ' can right out of Orwells 1984? No. Has she and Bill used their 'clout' to move this admin away from it's greed agenda. NO. has she done anything in the time she has been in the Senate to do anything other than what the Bush Admin has asked her to do.NO. She's in league with Nancy & Diane- Turn Coats. A truly pathetic showing for the ladies in these Gov't body- they might as well have all been Laura with as much 'resistance' as they have put forth. I've become disgusted by Hillary over the last several years- she should have ran in '00. I'd have voted for her with out any concern. Hindsight being 20/20 - glad she didn't. I'm voting for every 'unknown' on my ballot- and the 'off' parties. So Garbage men and Secretaries- you just might be the new face of our Republic. 'Experience' in corruption.
I was disgusted by the attacks on you that obama supporters presented here at kos and throughout the internet. Obviously team obama could have reigned them in but it seems they did the opposite. It seems that the new blood that support obma show no respect other Dems, their choice or their beliefs. Keep on keeping n Mr McEntee, many Dems respect you and you AND bot Clintons.
capitalism is not designed by its very nature to be for the people. it is designed to make wealth and in the past few decades it has made wealth for the few not the many.
american corporations have sold out the american people it is in their charter to max profits and not social agenda's and the american people have let them do it.
can a voter revolution change the direction of this sell out phenomena. No. a government must be designed for the people by the people and with the people. it wont happen until a real revolution comes in the streets and wash dc is cleaned out completely. lobbyists and politicans all must go.
it will take decades of fascism for this to happen. fascism is coming congress is preparing the way now.
those that resist will be called traitors and subject to torture.
blackwater time. hope americans like waterboarding.
Hillary squeaked a 2pt lead in a state that was supposed to be her stronghold. 2 months ago she was 20 pts. ahead in that state.
obama closed an 18 pt. gap in 2 months. pretty impressive, I'd say.
And in terms of delagates, it's a tie.
Folks, this is going to be a battle. Obama is up against the Clinton machine. Success will be hard, but it will be earned.
And it will make him a better candidate. This is the vetting process everyone has been asking for.
Amazing turn of events. The voters didn't vote as they were programed by the MSM to vote, they didn't do as they were told to. Especially the women!!!! Women were told to vote for Obama "All the women are women are voting for Obama" and guess what????
America may finally becoming democratic after all. Isn't that good news?
The billionaires and GE, an oil controlled energy conglomerate weren't able to manipulate the ballot box after all and decide the elections - at least not this time.
Poor women making less than $50,000 a year voted for Clinton.
Maybe Karl Rove is right. Poor women and Hispanics will decide the election in 08 for the Democrats if the Democrats can convince this group to vote.
Funny how McEntee leaves out any reference to the members of the AFSCME Executive Board who have publicly denounced his financing a campaign to trash Obama.
I believe the proud people of New Hampshire rebelled against the corporate maelstrom of Obama the savior. I think it is that simple. And I would like to thank the people of New Hampshire, because if the corporate media wants someone elected, vote the opposite. Just makes sense.
Weren't you and you're Union the ones looking to form a super 527 to play Republican dirty pool by swift boating Obama?

That's playing by the rules! That's a Bush trick and why I back Obama. I realize at this point it's about getting your person elected, and any of the 4 Democrats are well qualified, but to pull a trick from the Karl Rove play book to help your candidate just makes me sick. Makes me feel like more of the same is on the way.
As late as noon today Huff Polls still got it wrong. The home pages said "Clinton %39, Obama %37" when exact numbers already exist, and every other press and internet outlet has the accurate numbers as %39-36. Seems like some folks here don't want to get it right. the Obama tilt here is beyond obvious, and it's so sad that such a great idea has become just as partisan as anything in DC.
"Americans feel powerless and overwhelmed by big economic forces, like globalization. The Hillary Clinton I know gets that...."
Well, now. The Hillary I know has voted for every expansion of NAFTA. The Hillary I know owes big time the very anti-union/anti-worker/anti-American global corporate powers for their generous funding of her campaign.
AFSCME has always been an incredible get-out-the-vote machine, but in going full throttle for Clinton instead of John Edwards__who has never parse his support for unions as the lone agents of a prosperous middle class__Mr. McEntee jeopardizes not just what remains of good private sector jobs, but the jobs of his own membership when the middleclass shinks to just a memory of what was and can no longer afford the public services AFSCME members provide.
I would like to know how many votes were cast on Diebold type machines. How is it that the pollsters got it so right about the Republican turnout and so very wrong about the Democratic turnout? Statistics do not lie. How come Edwards never moved from 17% all night? Something just seems very wrong here.
Why do Clinton supporters all sound like they are writing using a computer program called on message.
Mostly "they" did not say she could not win. Mostly "they" noted that she had enough money and support to stay in the race as long as she wanted. "They" were far more adament that she was inevitable than that she was finished.
Maybe this message discipline is valuable and shows she will accomplish more when she gets in offense than Obama whose supporters actually seem to speak from the heart. But I continue to find it creepy.
