Dearest Pols: You're Either With Us or Against Us

Allow me to clarify: you work for the people - period. No one else. And certainly not for yourself.

There seems to be mad confusion out there among members of Congress, both on the left and the right.

Allow me to clarify: you work for the people - period. No one else. And certainly not for yourself. So, consider this a heads-up of what's bubbling beneath the surface.

Just a couple months ago, the Sunlight Network asked a very simple question of you: that you make your daily schedules publicly available within 24-hours after the fact.

Sunlight's argument: since you work for us, we should be able to see how it is you're spending your time. Seems fair, right? Especially since the rest of us have to account for ours...

You'd think with all the supposed reformers out there, this would have been a no-brainer. But, dammmmn, you'd be wrong! Turns out, that this is only a no-brainer for 76 challengers running in Congressional races across the country.

But here's the rub: many of these challengers are poised to win next week. Which means, suddenly, they're going to be leading the charge on issues of transparency; and you ... will be following. So, unless you're with us (the people, that is) get ready to kiss that 'lil "reformist" platform of yours buh-bye!

Oh, and btw, prepare yourself. If you continue to stonewall the people, rest assured that eventually they'll simply start making your whereabouts known for you. The appetite is there, and the technology (i.e., cell phones and video cams) is in place, just ask Senators Ted Stevens and Robert Byrd or any of your Hollywood donors. They'll tell you...

Reality is, you can run, but you cannot hide from the people you represent. That said, now is as good a time as any to stand up and step forward.
