Now it's fashionable to sing praises for the revolution in Egypt, after all this is a winning revolution. A week ago most of these songs started coming out of Egypt to praise the protesters and their work. While no one in the past month released a pro Mubarak song, some songs were mushy and tried to have it both ways. But the great majority of the songs were in favor of the Liberation Square protesters. I covered most of those songs in my Arabic music blog, to learn more about those songs, visit my music blog here

But one artists stands out among all those stars, he was the first mainstream entertainer to cover the subject and be clearly in favor of the protesters. I am speaking of Egyptian young singer Haitham Nabil, here is the lyrics in English, it's by far the most touching song that paints a realist picture of what really happens in Egypt. For a mainstream artist, taking such risk by defying the powers, he could have been banned fro appearing on any TV especially the State sponsored ones. To me he proofed to be a genuine artist who chose the side of the people.

In any revolution there are at least two parties, the vocal party that wants change and the one who is silent out of fear of the unknown. Haitham Nabil captured those two segments of the Egyptian society in a way no one else has been able to. Haitham like millions of people in Egypt he took part of the demonstrations on January 25th and 28th. Listen tot he song and read the lyrics to appreciate this song. He was non judgmental about either party and took us in a journey of self exploration. Zero SefrIn our right, we won't compromiseWe are all one and we will uniteThis is it, everyone will pitch inThe word will be the sameWe love in one landOur land, not anyone Else's

I started to evaluate things with myselfAs I watched things around meI saw an old man like grandpaWho came to demand his rightsA Young man with a cause and who won't compromise propped him upA girl worth a hundred man backed them up

I was silent, silence was my weaponI thought it over and realized I was zeroI will change, I am small in my own eyesI am smallI cannot lead in silly thingsAnd run away from serious matters

Chorus

In our right, we won't compromiseWe are all one and we will uniteThis is it, everyone will pitch inThe word will be the sameWe love in one landOur land, not anyone Else's
