Sarah Palin: Gun Imagery, Tea Party Fanatics, and Hunting Wolves From Helicoptors

Posted: 03/30/2010 10:36 am

I think it's great that Sarah Palin used gun imagery when trying to rally irate Tea Party fanatics on her Facebook page:

Every possession is a battle; you'll only win the war if you've picked your battles wisely. No matter how tough it gets, never retreat, instead RELOAD!
I get it Sarah: reload like you would with a gun you'd use to hunt a wolf from a helicopter. Example: if you're hunting a wolf from a helicopter and you shoot and miss--don't retreat. Instead, reload that gun and blow that wolf's head clean off! Ka-pow! Reload!

Liberals are offended that little Sarah from Wasilla used gun metaphors after anger and violence ignited over the signing of the health care bill.

Sarah quipped:

The crossfire is intense, so penetrate through enemy territory by bombing through the press, and use your strong weapons -- your Big Guns -- to drive to the hole. Shoot with accuracy; aim high and remember it takes blood, sweat and tears to win.

I'm all one for free speech, but maybe Sarah should tone down her Facebook messages and have them reflect the realistic events going on such as a brick flung through the window of a county Democratic Party office in Rochester, N.Y.

Maybe her Facebook page could read:

Every possession is a battle; you'll only win the war if you've picked your battles wisely. No matter how tough it gets, never retreat, instead THROW A BRICK THROUGH THE WINDOW OF YOUR ENEMIES!

On Thursday, 3/25/10 in Tennessee, Harry Weisiger committed an atrocious road rage by ramming his SUV into another car with a man and his 10 year old daughter and pushing the car 50 feet, all because of an Obama/Biden bumper sticker on the car. Two days later, on Saturday 3/27, Sarah CURIOUSLY added a NEW LINE to her stagnant regurgitated speech:

"That bumper sticker that maybe you'll see on the next Subaru driving by -- an Obama bumper sticker -- you should stop the driver and say, 'So how is that hopey, changey thing working out for ya?'"

There is no doubt in my mind that Sarah had heard of this incident and found it amusing in her warped way of thinking, and added it to her otherwise ad nauseum script.

Sarah told her audience in Nevada to stop cars with Obama stickers and ask them how the hopey changey thing is going! Looks like she's trying to incite more violence and controversy. She liked the outcome of the incident in Tennessee, and she's instructing her fans to cause more problems.

Yeah, the Party of Elitists thinks it's all just a big joke
and cute little Sarah (wink wink) well she don't mean
no harm. Give me a break. I know there are a lot of
ignorant people in this country and The Party of No
better hope there's enough of them to get them back
in office in November because they're losing the
good ones. That's right Sarah. wink wink

You may not be familiar with expressions like this battlefield imagery. They are called metaphors and are not to be taken literally.

You are also clearly unfamiliar with the concept of wildlife management. Wolves were never hunted from helicopters in Alaska. You may not agree with the decision, but the wolves were culled in order to manage the balance between predator and prey. Helicopters were used because the areas were otherwise inaccessible.

You are welcome.

Actually, wolves ARE being hunted from helicopters in Alaska. See http://juneauempire.com/stories/031809/sta_411318322.shtml.

It is a practice that has been voted down TWICE by the residents of Alaska. Unfortunately our Fish and Game board is made up of hunting guides and really has little to do with game management. It be because hunters in the area do not want to have to go too far to shoot a moose.

On the flip side we could just send these folks any of the hundreds of moose hit by cars. :)

We are dealing with ignorant and militia-types. Yes,
you need to tone it down. What don't you understand?

I find it disturbing that facebook hasn't pulled her page down. It incites violence and is basically a meeting place for unhinged wingnuts to congregate. They need to meet in person at an undisclosed trailer like the rest of the wackos.

"....have them reflect the realistic events going on such as a brick flung through the window of a county Democratic Party office in Rochester, N.Y."

This was tried in Denver last year. His name was Maurice Swenkler. If you libs want vandalize yourselves and make a lame attempt to look like the opposition did it, try something that wasn't used before.

Now take that as a cue for the agent provocateur from the left as an opportunity to set up those on the right. You see, until those that actually committed those crimes are found, both are possible scenarios.

From past history and the violence that breaks out at every ELF, Greenpeace, G-20, G-7, or G-3.14 rally, guess where money is going?

Good question, why is she always given a free pass when she clearly crosses the line? Because the Dems are to complacent, lazy, and afraid of the backlash, so they leave her alone.

Freedom of speech comes with responsibility and that is why you don't yell "fire" in a crowded movie theatre. Sarah loves to incite people to violence and hatred -- that's all she has. She can light the flame and stand back and watch and not accept responsibility. She says that when she says "reload" she means vote. When I want someone to vote, I say vote.

Don't put cross-hairs on our the country. Stupidity is not an excuse for promoting insurrection.
12:03 PM on 03/30/2010
Mr Leon, you said "I'm all one for free speech, but". There should be no ", but" in your declaration. We don't know her words created any violence. War and fighting terms are used everyday in business meetings, political campaign planning meetings, and locker rooms across the nation. Are her references to shooting objectionable? Yes. Are they necessary? No. Say what you want about her speech or politics, there is one thing for sure, she's not going away. If you agreed with her you would be admiring her tenacity to fight while so many are against her, as we admire Pelosi's tenacity.
Frustration and anger against government have been around since the first government on earth was created. As long as there is government, frustration and anger will continue. I am thankful for free speech.

no "but"? - there is ALWAYS a "but" when discussing free speech. The overused, but perfectly appropriate example is one who would yell "fire" in a crowded theater. How about those who have said they wish to kill the president of the United States - should that speech be free? How about those who encourage others to kill - like bin Laden? I will grant that there are times when free speech will nudge up to the line, and it will still be considered free speech. And I also will agree that the government does not need to be policeing every speech given. But when feelings are running so high, and there have been actual instances of barely controlled violence - the screaming of nasty, vile words at congress people, bricks thrown through windows of political offices, etc., don't you think Ms. Palin should have the common sense to temper her own speech? Instead of mocking those who are concerned, and using even more violent language - then laughing and saying "I mean vote" when I said shoot.
